Review –

I’ve been following Crossroad for months and finally bought a copy for my husband for his birthday. I knew it was going to be intense and well-done, but it exceeded my expectations.

First, let me warn you. This is a complex plot with an ensemble cast. This is not a movie for multi-tasking. Especially in the beginning, you’ve got to really pay attention to keep up with who is who and what is going on. But, slowly, it all starts to come together and makes sense. And as it progresses, the intensity increases, and you seriously have no idea what’s going to happen next. Shervin Youssefian did an amazing job of writing a script with interlocking storylines, each with their own twists and turns throughout the movie.

The acting was superb, which is not surprising considering these are Hollywood actors with years of experience. They each played their roles with depth and complexity. Sean Galuska did a particularly good job of playing a tortured creepy guy. And Philip Bulcock was great as the loving husband/father turned angry revenge seeker. Generally, any movie has at least a few weak actors, but not in this case. Even newcomer Jasmine Jade held her own amidst the acting giants.

One thing that surprised me was the spiritual aspect. I’d read reviews by non-Christians who enjoyed the movie, and so I assumed there must not be much spiritual content. I was wrong. Crossroad has a very powerful spiritual message of forgiveness and redemption. Kim Estes’ character in particular does a great job of sharing Biblical truths without coming across as preaching.

Crossroad has been highly acclaimed with multiple prestigious film festival awards, and it’s no wonder. It is definitely a movie worth watching!
