Coming Home for Christmas – Review

Summary –

Coming Home for Christmas (also called Home for Christmas) is the story of a family who has allowed communication issues to separate them from each other until daughter Kate puts into action a plan to bring everyone together at their old home for Christmas. The story is completed with a romantic storyline and a happy ending.

Review – Coming Home for Christmas has a simple plotline, beautiful settings, and lovely music. The writing could have used some tweaking to pull it together a little more cohesively. Some of the situations were a little contrived, but the dialogue overall was decent. The acting was good, especially Carly McKillip as Kate. I also enjoyed Ben Hollingsworth as Mike.  I know that Carly and Britt are sisters and they obviously look alike. It would have been helpful had they dressed uniquely or worn their hair distinctly different . I often had to stop and think to figure out which sister it was at the beginning of the scenes. Also, Amy Jo Johnson seemed more like an older sister than the girls’ mom. The locations were beautiful and made me want to visit Canada where it was filmed. I also enjoyed the music. Carly and Britt form the Canadian-based country duo One More Girl. They have beautiful voices and their songs provide an unexpected touch to the Christmas movie. The movie gives them opportunity to showcase their music to a new audience.

Coming Home for Christmas is an unpretentious movie with a positive message that will make you feel good this holiday season.
