Stand Your Ground. A true story of how a Mother’s Faith is tested when her Son is charged with murder.  It’s a film that helps you understand our justice system and how desperately one Mother fights to save her Son.  Defense Attorney Mitchell Kane (Cameron Arnett) tells it like it is, with the thought that nothing short of a miracle will help the case. Cameron puts on an excellent performance and is very convincing in and out of the courtroom. Mother, Jackie Carpenter (Francine Locke) shows just what it is to be a Mother.  She goes on an array of emotions from the very beginning to the last scene.  She is always there for her Son with trust and hope. It’s a very touching film and I’m glad to have seen it.

There were so many excellent films that I was privileged to watch and review in 2016, but out of all of them, The Defense of New Haven, I enjoyed the most. There is heart mingled with a level of professionalism and that’s what makes this film such a great watch. The two greatest struggles facing Christian films, from a critic’s point of view are: poorly written scripts and weak stories. The Defense of New Haven was strong in areas where I found other films weak. For the tremendous amount of effort put into this film, and the level of dedication to effectively portraying its message. I consider this to be the best film of 2016!
