I’ve been so busy marketing our movie, I realized I’d forgotten to post. LOL! I’m excited to be teaching Marketing for Movies at the Great Lakes Christian Film Festival in Buffalo, New York this weekend. I’ll be teaching fellow filmmakers how to brand and market their movies from the beginning using free and cheap tips and tricks we’ve learned in our decade or so of making movies.
The Great Lakes Christian Film Festival is part of our Summer of ’67 movie tour. We make it a point to tour with each of our movies.
With Flowers for Fannie, we did a Christian bookstore tour the week before the DVD release. We covered a three-state area, introducing ourselves to the managers and giving them a complimentary copy for their employees to watch. In some cases, they weren’t already planning to carry the movie but added it after meeting us.
With The Good Book, we did a film festival tour followed by a bookstore tour.
Providence was a theatrical tour followed by film festivals and screenings.
Now, with Summer of ’67, we’re doing our biggest tour yet. Five months of theatrical releases, film festivals, church and community screenings, veteran reunion, and more. We’ve found that being there, meeting people face to face contributes greatly to their involvement with the movie. Audiences love to hear those little behind the scenes stories that provide a greater appreciation for what they saw on screen. They love to pose for pictures and make a personal connection. They also like to buy DVDs both current and older ones once they “know” the filmmakers.
