Don’t you love how God will place something on your heart, and then everywhere you look, there it is? For months, we pondered over the theme for our Women of Focus conference. We wanted something that women could relate to and that would be broad enough to encompass an entire conference. When we settled on Fearless, we knew it was the perfect focus for 2020.
Since so many scripture passages are dedicated to fear, I assumed there would be a lot of books on the subject. While there are some, it wasn’t nearly as many as I thought I’d find.
Then Angela Donadio, a fellow speaker at Exceptional Keynote Speakers, invited me to be a guest on Make Life Matter, her new Charisma podcast. As I checked out her website, I was delighted to discover that not only does she have a book called Fearless, but it’s about women of the Bible, my personal passion.
As you can tell from the cover, this is a fun look at what it means to overcome our fears and do extraordinary things for God.
Fearless is a 6-session Bible study, focusing on the women in Moses’ life, Rahab, Abigail, The Samaritan woman, the woman with the issue of blood, and Priscilla. Each lesson is a mix of storytelling, scripture study, takeaways, lessons, and discussion. It’s also interactive in that she has links to companion video resources you can watch to bring the stories to life.
I love studying women of the Bible, and I’ve read a lot of books about Bible women, but Angela really draws you in and brings the women to life. One of the most amazing aspects was that she’s been to the Holy Land. She’s been where those women lived. She’s walked where they walked. In the chapter on Rahab, she talks about sitting next to “the only structure that remained when the walls of Jericho collapsed.” I had no idea there was anything left, and yet, she’s been there. No wonder her stories feel so personal. Not to mention, her videos were filmed on location in Israel. How cool is that?
While Fearless is a Bible study, it’s also a standalone read. It’s not something that requires a group of women gathering together and doing homework each week. It’s a fascinating read that just happens to have simple assignments to help you “Find Your Fearless”.
Fearless is written for women, but it could just as easily be enjoyed by older teens or college girls.
If you’re looking for a new Bible study or just another resource for your women of the Bible library collection, you’ll want to check out Fearless by Angela Donadio.
