I love discovering new music so when I was invited to preview Gary LeVox’s first solo EP, I jumped at the chance. I’m so glad I did. I love it!

I look for three different types of music:
1) Writing music – soothing, familiar, often instrumental that I can have playing in the background while I’m writing.
2) Sewing music – peaceful yet fun, enough energy to keep me moving, but not enough that it makes me feel stressed.
3) Cleaning music – high energy, fun, turns cleaning into a workout routine.

One On One passed the test for cleaning music, but I’m pretty sure it would work equally well for sewing.

In case you don’t recognize the name, Gary LeVox is the former lead singer for Racal Flatts. In his first solo EP he combines his signature sound with beautiful messages of faith. I liked each of the five songs, but the lyrics in “All I See” truly captivated me. I loved the line “It was hard to see You. My eyes were on me.” Isn’t that so true? We get so consumed with ourselves that we lose sight of the Lord.

When asked about the role God has played in his musical journey, LeVox said, “I feel like God graced us with a platform where we can not only touch people’s lives through music, but by being men of God offstage too,” explained LeVox. “At those times when we are with fans that are going through something like cancer, it is so wonderful to not only sing for them but to hold their hand and pray with them. I want them to know that they have a friend in me. I’m not just some guy on the stage. I feel like Christ has put me in this position because He knew I could handle the obligation, which often means taking the time to lift someone up in prayer.”
