Welcome to the Blog Tour for Home No Matter Where by Nancy Naigle, hosted by JustRead Publicity Tours!
As I count down to the release of The Amazing Crab Alley Revival, I’m limiting my book reviews and author interview, but couldn’t miss out on this opportunity to interview Nancy Naigle. In this interview she shares her journey from banking to bestselling novelist, insights into her multigenerational Christian fiction, and what readers can expect from this heartfelt new release.
Author Interview With Nancy Naigle
What led you to go from banking to novel writing?
I never dreamed of becoming a writer. I had a successful career in technology and loved the challenge of that work. But during a difficult season in my career, books became more than entertainment, they became comfort. They were my way to breathe when life felt heavy.
One day I had this simple thought: What if I could write one book for one person to help them through one hard day?
That thought stayed with me.
I started writing while still working full-time, and it became my mission to tell that story. It took me nine years to get published. In 2014, I lost my husband of twenty years to a short battle with lung cancer. I took early retirement and stepped fully into writing, and I’ve never questioned the path.
Looking back now, I truly believe God was nudging me toward this path long before I understood it myself.
What do all of your books have in common?
My stories are about hope, healing, love, and second chances.
Tell us about your experience of having your books turned into Hallmark movies?
Honestly, even when I watch them now, it still feels a little surreal.
As a writer, you spend months, sometimes years, living with these characters in your head, imagining their world and hoping readers will fall in love with them the way you have. To then step onto a movie set and see a director’s chair with your name on it, that’s a pinch-me moment I’ll never forget.
And I’ll be honest, the first time I sat there watching actors speak words that had once lived only on the pages in my imagination, I cried. It’s hard to explain what that feels like.
Storytelling is such a quiet, solitary process, so to suddenly see it come alive in front of you with actors, music, sets, and all the magic of film is incredibly emotional.
What means the most to me is that the heart of the story still gets to shine through, those themes of love, hope, family, faith, second chances, and community that matter so much to me as a writer.
And then there’s The Shell Collector, which is especially close to my heart.
That story is probably the most personal and meaningful one I will ever tell. Although I wasn’t on set for that production, seeing it become a FOX Original movie and knowing it’s now streaming on FOX Nation has been such a gift.
I’m deeply grateful that story continues to touch hearts in another medium, because at the end of the day, that’s what this has always been about for me, reaching people with stories that bring hope.
Tell us about Home No Matter Where, your latest book.
I’m so excited about Home No Matter Where, the third book in my Shell Collector Novels, because it takes readers back to Whelk’s Island for another heartfelt story of hope, healing, and second chances.
At the center of this story is Nina, a recently divorced single mom who heads to Whelk’s Island with her teenage daughter, Kendra, hoping a summer with Nina’s mother, Rosemary, might be just what they both need.
But as anyone who has raised a teenager knows, healing isn’t always simple, especially when hearts are hurting and emotions are running high.
As the summer unfolds, Nina finds herself leaning on family, community, and the unexpected kindness of people who show up when life feels overwhelming. Along the way, there’s laughter, love, a little romance, and the kind of hope readers have come to expect from The Shell Collector Novels.
At its heart, Home No Matter Where is a story about healing, forgiveness, family, and discovering that home isn’t always a place, sometimes it’s the people who help you find your way back to yourself.
What makes it unique from other books?
While all of the Shell Collector Novels are connected by the heart of Whelk’s Island, themes of hope, healing, and those special shells that seem to find the right person at the right time, Home No Matter Where has a different feel because it leans more deeply into family.
This book is really a multigenerational family saga, centered around three generations of women under one roof, each carrying their own hurts, hopes, and life lessons. It explores motherhood, daughter relationships, forgiveness, letting go, and the reality that sometimes the people we love most can also be the ones we struggle with the most.
There’s still romance, community, and all the small-town coastal charm readers expect, but this story digs a little deeper into family dynamics and the emotional journey of finding peace when life hasn’t gone the way you planned.
For me, what makes this one special is the reminder that home isn’t always a place you return to, it can be something you rediscover in family, in love, and in yourself.
What do you hope readers will get out of your books?
What I hope readers get from my books is the same thing books have given me through different seasons of life, a place to breathe, a sense of hope, and the reminder that no matter what life looks like in the moment, better days are possible.
I want readers to close one of my books feeling lighter than when they opened it. Maybe they laughed, maybe they cried, maybe they saw a little piece of themselves in a character’s journey, but most of all, I hope they feel encouraged.
My stories are filled with love, family, friendship, second chances, and community, but underneath all of that is a deeper thread of hope. Life can be messy and unexpected, but healing is possible, joy can return, and sometimes the smallest moments can remind us that we’re not alone.
If one of my books helps someone through one hard day, then I’ve done exactly what I set out to do.
Anything else you’d like us to know?
I think I’d want readers to know that at the heart of everything I write is hope.
Life isn’t always easy, and none of us get through it without a few hard chapters, but I believe in healing, in second chances, in the power of community, and in the kind of joy that finds us again when we least expect it.
That’s what I try to put on the page, stories of home, heart, and finding joy again.
And I’m so grateful to every reader who chooses to come along for the journey.

Three generations of women confront their pasts and discover it’s never too late for new beginnings in this heartwarming novel of second chances and unconditional love—from the bestselling author of The Shell Collector.
“In Home No Matter Where we travel to beautiful Whelk’s Island, where a close-knit community puts us right at home. Along the way we meet compelling characters caught in realistic storms and learn faith-filled lessons about weathering them.” —Denise Hunter, bestselling author of More Than Friends.
Nina is at her wit’s end with her teenage daughter, Kendra. Still dealing with her own wounds of divorce, Nina hopes a change of scenery will help. She and Kendra head to the serene coastal town of Whelk’s Island to spend a restorative summer with Nina’s mother, Rosemary—bringing three generations under one roof for the first time in years. Amid the island’s charm, old wounds begin to heal, and as new friendships bloom—especially with the steady and enigmatic Fisher—light begins to break through the cracks of Nina’s tightly controlled life.
Kendra’s reckless behavior continues but Fisher’s intervention during a critical moment for Kendra sparks a sense of hope in Nina that she thought was lost. Still, change is never easy.
As the women navigate the tides of forgiveness, growing up, and letting go, healing begins and new love brings surprises. While Whelk’s Island may not hold all the answers, it has a way of reminding people that moving forward doesn’t follow a set path—it requires the bravery to start anew.
