Welcome to the Takeover + Review Blitz for Echoes of a Silent Song by Amanda Wen, hosted by JustRead Publicity Tours!

I’m not sure why I signed up to review Echoes of a Silent Song. I’m not familiar with author Amanda Wen, and it’s not a storyline that would normally appeal to me. But for some reason, I signed up, and I am so glad. Echoes of a Silent Song is one of the best books I’ve read in a long time.

Book Review

I don’t know what I was expecting with Echoes of a Silent Song, but whatever my expectations were, the book caught me completely by surprise.

From the opening pages I was drawn into the lives of the characters and their stories. I enjoy a good enemies to lovers trope, and this book does a great job of that. I love both Blaire and Callum, how they both struggle to do right by the students, even though their approaches seem at first to be at odds with each other. I love their developing romance as they learn to trust each other. I also love seeing Iris’s story told from the first-person POV. Amanda Wen did an amazing job of weaving the two storylines together.

Though there were a few details that seemed a little forced– they find a random piece of music and immediately assume it was written by a little-known student from the sixties–once I started reading, I couldn’t stop. When it got time to go to bed, I put down the book, but then laid in the dark wanting to get back up and read some more. When I wasn’t reading, I couldn’t stop thinking about the characters, wondering what was going to happen next.

I didn’t realize suicide was going to be a major theme of the book. Had I known that, I’m not sure I would have chosen it. However, though the subject is discussed, it doesn’t go dark. It’s approached with sensitivity and tact. The ending was unexpected but satisfying.

If you’re looking for a captivating read, a tender love story, and an encouraging story of hope and second chances, check out Echoes of a Silent Song.

About the Book

Echoes of a Silent Song

Title: Echoes of a Silent Song
Series: Melodies and Memories #1
Author: Amanda Wen
Publisher: Kregel Publications
Release Date: October 21, 2025
Genre: Split-time Romance

A split-time romance from an award-winning author

When a choral composer and conductor falls victim to creative block, he resorts to his fallback plan of teaching high school choir. Callum Knight’s goal at Peterson High is simple: rediscover his muse, extract himself from teaching, and get back to Boston as quickly as possible.

As the long-suffering accompanist at the high school, Peterson-native Blair Emerson has watched the revolving door of choir directors and their negative impact on her choirs over the last few years. She is less than impressed when a disheveled Callum stumbles in on his first day.

But then they discover an unsigned, unfinished, and handwritten choral composition by a clear musical genius. Blair recalls rumors of Iris, a Peterson student from the 1970s who composed music but was found dead during her senior year. Blair and Callum work to determine if the piece is hers, and the truth they uncover shakes both of them to the core.

With rhythm and flair, Amanda Wen takes readers on an unexpected journey into the depths of a small town’s history in this riveting first book in the Melodies and Memories duology.
