Up until a year or so ago, I only read historical fiction. Then I discovered Love Inspired, and it opened me up to contemporary romance. Now, with Kate Landry Has a Plan, I discovered a rom-com style contemporary romance that caught me off guard with its frankness, but once I got used it to, I found it delightfully refreshing.

Kate Landry Has a Plan is not a book I would normally have selected to read, but the storyline sounded fun, and so I decided to give it a try. I’m glad I did. It was a delightfully fun read.
I love that Kate Landry Has a Plan takes place in New Orleans. Though I’ve been to New Orleans several times, it’s not been a favorite destination. Honestly, it’s a little too big and crowded and scary for my tastes.
But Rebekah Millet shows New Orleans from an insider’s perspective and made me want to go again, just so I could see the sights. She brought the city to life in such a way, if I did return to New Orleans, I’d expect to stop by the library and the cafe. I’d also want to meet up with Kate and Micah hanging out along St. Charles Street and in the French Quarter.
Kate Landry Has a Plan is a rom-com written in a very modern style that took me a moment to get used to. I can’t recall ever reading another book where the character threw up or talked about her period, and it made me uncomfortable at first. But once I got into it, I realized that was part of the charm of this book. Kate Landry is real. We get to see what she’s really like, and once I got used to it, I found it refreshing.
I love quirky characters, and this book is full of them. I loved their names and relationships and their behavior toward each other. These characters are ones I’d love to meet in person. Even with the villains, I connected with them so much I felt sorry for them. Not that I can excuse their bad behavior, but they’re still verydimensional characters.
If you’re looking for a fun read with a feel-good ending, Kate Landry Has a Plan is the book for you. Get your copy today! You’ll be glad you did.
