Sharon's book blog

As we launch into a brand new year, I’m excited to branch out on a new venture. For the past two years, I’ve been hard at work learning the art of novel writing, and now my debut novel, The Amazing Crab Alley Revival, is soon to launch.

The Amazing Crab Alley Revival is a Southern historical retelling of Lydia in the Bible set in 1897 in Port Royal, Florida, a small, fictional town along the Forgotten Coast. Elk Lake Publishing, my publisher for Women of Prayer, will be releasing it on July 15, my 60th birthday. I can’t wait for you to read it!

For those of you who enjoy my Women of the Bible studies, I’ve got good news for you. Though I’m adding in fiction to my repertoire, I’m not giving up Bible studies. I’m working on a new 6-week Bible study book that I’ll be self-publishing in the upcoming months. So that will be something new as well, learning the ins and outs of self-publishing.

I’d love to take you along the journey of my new adventures, providing an insider look at the publishing process, updates on my books, and glimpses into other projects I’m working on. Won’t you join me?

The Amazing Crab Alley Revival

Port Royal, Florida Will Never Be The Same After Three Unlikely Women, A Boy, And A Dog Join Forces

The year is 1897 and wealthy widow Lydia Culpepper is evaluating her mundane existence. For sixty-three years, she’s faithfully gone through the motions of fulfilling everyone else’s expectations for her life, but nothing she does is ever enough. She longs for something more.

When a young boy comes to her house in search of his missing coon dog, she gets her wish. She meets Emily Reed, a young finishing school instructor, and Opal Jackson, an Irish single mother, and the three women join together on a mission that turns the First Community Church on its head.

Suddenly, the town is in an uproar as lives are being changed. When Yellow Fever hits, it looks like their efforts may have been in vain, but the epidemic isn’t enough to thwart the fruits of the Crab Alley Revival.

Women of Prayer

Women of Prayer book

If you’re looking to start off the new year with Bible study, check out Women of Prayer, a 10-week study of the prayers of Bible women.

In Women of Prayer you get to know God in a more personal manner as you delve into the lives of Bible women who walked and talked with Him. Through their interactions with God, you’ll discover who He is and what it is He wants for you.

Unlike fill-in-the-bland Bible studies, Women of Prayer walks you through a personalized method of studying the Bible. Focusing on the stories of ten Bible women with an additional look at ten more women, you’ll learn how to get past a superficial acquaintance with God and develop a deeper relationship with him through Scripture and study.

Drop me a line and let me know what you’d like to see more of–behind the scenes, new studies, more book reviews, author interviews … Whatever your preference, let me know.

Three Women. One Unlikely Mission. A Town Forever Changed.

Oh my gosh. This sounds amazing! I can’t wait to get a’hold of this one.

  2. Hey

The novel venture sounds great–especially the setting, for this Florida native.

If you need anyone to do a read-through for typos (free of charge), I have done a bit of that (like sending suggestions on some of your blogs!), for books that authors self-publish and don\’t have a lot of layers of editing.

Regardless, it sounds like a fun book!

    Blessings in 2026.

    1. Zanese, that is so sweet! It’s pretty much out of my hands at this point. My editor has it. Then it will go on to the fiction editor, and then the managing editor. But I will definitely keep that in mind for future projects.
