100 Days book release countdown

After spending most of my life dreaming of being a novelist, it’s finally happening. The Amazing Crab Alley Revival, my debut novel, releases July 15, on my 60th birthday. I can’t wait!

The Story

Keeping with my passion for Bible women, The Amazing Crab Alley Revival is a loose retelling of Lydia in the Bible. Set in 1897 in the fictional town of Port Royal, Florida, it’s the story of Lydia Culpepper, an older woman discouraged by life and determined to make a difference before she dies. She’s joined by Opal Jackson, an Irish immigrant and single mother, and Emily Reed, a young finishing school instructor. Together, the women spark an unexpected revival, catching the rest of the town by surprise.

The Amazing Crab Alley Revival is a story about church ladies and the drama that ensues whenever two or more are gathered.

The Journey

This book has been a long time coming. I began work on it in 2019, then set it aside when God led me to other pursuits. Through the years, it’s gone through many drafts, revisions, and submissions before finally finding a home with Elk Lake Publishing, the publisher for Women of Prayer, my Bible study. Then came more revisions–many more–before finally being ready for publication.

I originally thought the book would release sooner, but when I found out it would be late June or early July, I specifically requested a release date of July 15, my 60th birthday. I’ve waited this long, why not wait a few more weeks and make it a true celebration.

My journey follows along perfectly with Lydia Culpepper. We’re both older women longing to truly make a difference with our lives. I pray this story will speak to souls and impact lives, sparking revival in the hearts of each woman (or man) who reads it.

  1. Concerning your upcoming novel release: Will there be a book signing event at a local bookstore? I’ve only attended one in my life, but it seems like a fun thing to do. Maybe Crossroads or the Springfield Library?

    1. Joyce, yes, there will be a private one that you’ll be invited to, and also a public one (or two) locally.

    Hey there

I read your emailed interview with Nancy Naigle today and thought you might be interested in this Zoom interview tonight with her on the same book, part of a monthly series of Christian authors interviewed by other Christian fiction authors.

Looking forward to your The Amazing Crab Alley Revival on July 15. I\’m a fan of biblical-era fiction, and also Bible stories set in other eras! I enjoyed Angela Hunt\’s fairly recent book, *The Woman from Lydia, *set in the time of Acts (my favorite book of the Bible–especially after celebrating Pentecost with my favorite verses, Acts 2!).

    Blessings!
