Indivisible movie poster

In case you haven’t noticed, this is the season for military-themed faith-based films. Indivisible movie is the latest. As pastor Gary Olson of Rolling Hills Community Church observed, Unbroken: Path to Redemption, Summer of ’67, Interview With God, God Bless the Broken Road, and now Indivisible all deal with war.

From the moment I saw the trailer, I knew I wanted to see Indivisible, but I honestly wasn’t expecting it to be as good as it was. It drew me in from the start and kept me on the edge of my seat until the end. The characters and situations are real. I know those people, and I suspect that either you know them, or you are them.

Indivisible is the true story of Army Chaplain Darren Turner and his wife Heather, whose lives are fully devoted to serving God, family, and country. Both are committed to using their roles in the military to bless and inspire others.

Then the reality of war personally touches their lives, and their reactions are not what they expected. The chaplain who’s counseling others is in need of counseling himself. Only he won’t admit it. His wife can’t reach him. Their marriage is shaken to the core.

The movie, while not being particularly graphic, doesn’t gloss over the harsh reality of war, and what I particularly appreciated about this particular movie is that, like Summer of ’67, it shows the effect of war on marriages and families. While it focuses on the Turners, it includes other families as well, showing how war affects each of us a little differently. No one is exempt.

If you’re military, active or retired, I encourage you to head to your local theater tomorrow to see Indivisible for yourself. If you’re not military, I encourage you to head to your local theater as well, because the story relates to life traumas in general and how we react to them.

Indivisible is a top-notch movie with talented actors, beautiful cinematography, and a story that will stick with you long after the closing credits.
