As you may have noticed, I have a slight obsession with women in the Bible. I love to not only read their original stories in the Bible, but also to read Bible studies and other books that feature different biblical women. The Women Who Met Jesus: New Testament Stories of Lives Transformed by the Author focuses on twenty New Testament women.
This book is a little different than other similar books I’ve read. Author Dorothy Valcarcel makes it personal. From the first pages of the book, she opens with very personal stories from her life. She opens each chapter with her own stories of struggles and difficulties, then compares her struggles with that of the biblical women.
At the conclusion of each chapter is a section for further study. “A Time for Reflection” provides the biblical text for the chapter. “Exploration” asks questions for the reader to ponder. “Inspiration” poses questions for more study. “Affirmation” is one verse or passage that summarizes the chapter.
The Women Who Met Jesus stands alone for personal reading or could be used as a Bible study book to study alone or with a group.
