I first became aware of Yellow Day movie last winter when it released theatrically. At the time we were getting ready for the theatrical release of Providence and they played in several of the same markets as us.

It was fun watching them as we prepared for our big day. Unfortunately, since we were so busy, we never got to watch Yellow Day, so I was glad to find out about the DVD release and get to finally screen it.

Yellow Day is a love story and spiritual adventure intertwined with beautiful animation sequences that give it a contemporary, yet magical fairy-tale feel. Yellow Day at Camp Grace celebrates miracles, faith and community—but for one young man, it’s the chance to find his true love.

This young man takes the help of a mysterious guide appearing spritely little girl, and takes an imaginative adventure, witnessing true heroes, daring feats, and learning great lessons. Thus his true love becomes much more, showing him how hope and love conquer all.

Yellow Day is not like any other movie. The combination of animation and live action provides a fresh approach to a faith-based love story. It combines both a spiritual message as well as a beautiful romance. I found the animation to be artistic and beautiful and the characters to be refreshing and authentic. Much thought went into the script as well as the production.

If you’re looking for a fun film that the whole family can enjoy, check it out. It would be especially suitable for a preteen girls slumber party.
