Journal the Word Bible

Bibles have changed a lot over the years. When you look at older Bibles, the text was always small and divided into two columns, and you would usually have cross reference notes in the margins and footnotes at the bottom of the page.

Nowadays, while plenty of Bibles are still that style, more options are available. Text is bigger. Notes are often fewer. Some are now one-column. And a few, like the new Journal the Word Bible, include blank margins. The purpose is for easier reading and notetaking.

Bible Review

The Journal the Word Bible is unlike any other Bible I own. It’s simple and no-frills. It’s literally the Word of God and nothing else, which caught me off guard at first. But the more I thought about it, the more I appreciated the simplicity.

While I personally love study Bibles, there’s a lot to be said for being able to focus on the Word without the distractions of notes. The Journal Through the Word Bible would be ideal for bringing to church and being able to take sermon notes in the wide margins. Or for someone who has a hard time focusing, they could doodle in the margins to help them concentrate.

One thing to be aware of is because the Journal Through the Word Bible is large print, one-column, and wide margins, it’s thick–2,000 pages thick–which means it’s heavy. It’s not cumbersome, but still, something to note.

The cover of mine is a simple but elegant taupe hardcover with a floral design on the front and Isaiah 40:8 on the back. However, I don’t see this cover as an option on the website. On the website is a pretty turquoise hardcover or brown leather.

The Journal the Word Bible would make a great gift for a woman in your life, or gift yourself.
