I was working on the script for an episode of All God’s Women when I wanted to know the distance between two towns mentioned in the scripture passage. As I went looking for the information, I started thinking how handy it would be to have a Bible with maps and other geographic commentary included with the text. I know that some Bibles have maps in the back, but sometimes you want information right there where you’re reading about it. Well, it wasn’t but a few days after I was thinking about how handy that would be, that I got an invitation to review the new Holy Land Illustrated Bible. Um, yes, please!

It’s not exactly how I envisioned. The maps are still in the back. But, Holy Land pictures and related articles are interspersed within the text. And these are really cool articles. Like “Jezebel Unveiled” by Julie Nall Knowles that explains the politics involved in Jezebel’s marriage and details about the temple idol worship. The Bible is packed with hundreds of articles by all different Bible scholars. Honestly, I’ve not seen another Bible anything like it.

I own many Bibles. They each have their own offering and serve different purposes. But the Holy Land Illustrated Bible is going to have a special place on my shelf so that I can reference it often while working on All God’s Women podcast episodes. It’s going to add a new dimension to my research and studies.

I’m excited to share that I get to give away a copy of the Holy Land Illustrated Bible. If you would like your own copy, comment below with why you would like to have your own Holy Land Illustrated Bible. A winner at random will be chosen on December 2.

  1. That looks and sounds amazing!! I got to go to Israel for a Bible Land Study Tour through college. To earn credit for it, we were required to take a class the semester before on the Bible Land Geography. Our textbook was a book of maps from every single time period of the Bible! I have used it in reference often, but sometimes I wanted a little more historical details. The articles like about Jezebel in this illustrated Bible sound so helpful! Thank you for the opportunity for a copy!!

  2. I would love to have a copy of this Bible as I think it would be a big help in preparing Sunday School lessons! Thanks for hosting the giveaway!
