It’s been awhile since I’ve reviewed a Bible. Today I have a Bible/book to review. Spurgeon and the Church is a unique combination of scripture and sermon.
About Spurgeon and the Church
Spurgeon and the Church is a thin volume with a Leathersoft cover, white paper, and easy-to-read print. It includes the complete Bible text from Acts to Revelation. Each chapter opens with a passage from one of Spurgeon’s sermons related to that chapter.
The pages are set up with wide margins for notetaking. Limited cross reference notes are included in the footnotes.
My Review of Spurgeon and the Church
This is one of those no-nonsense Bibles from Thomas Nelson. It’s simple, without any frills. It’s designed for pastors or teachers who can appreciate the wisdom of one of the greatest preachers of all time.
I like that it’s thin and lightweight and easy to carry around. The cover is very tasteful and classic.
Though I’m not sure that the average layperson would get much out of this, I know so many ministers and Bible students who love Charles Spurgeon and would consider this a treasure. If you know one of those, it would make a great gift.
