The Action Bible: Faith in Action Edition Bible Review

Parents, looking for a way to get your kids excited about the Bible? Check out The Action Bible: Faith in Action Edition.

The original Action Bible came out in 2010. Since them millions of children around the world have read and learned from the graphic illustrations Bible stories. This newest edition, the Faith in Action edition, is interactive.

Bible Description

The Action Bible: Faith in Action Edition is a thick, hardback book. It looks like a storybook more than a Bible. The colors and graphics are vivid and bold.

The Bible is organized into seven themes: Courage, Faith, Hope, Love, Service, Trust, and Wisdom. These themes are based on David C. Cook’s core curriculum. They connect directly to children’s felt needs.

The themes are color-coded. For each theme, there’s a character illustration, a description of the character theme, examples of Bible personalities who exemplify that character trait, and a scripture verse. Then there’s a list of all the Bible stories related to that theme.

Digital resources include over 200 devotionals, prayers, timelines, maps, Bible facts, teaching videos, and more. They can be accessed via QR codes on the related pages.

Bible Review

Though The Action Bible is called a Bible, it’s not a Bible in the truest sense. It’s a graphic storybook with stories from the Bible presented in chronological order. With that said, I’m all for anything that brings the Bible to life and encourages Bible study. Though obviously the Bible employs poetic license, everything I saw appears to be biblically solid.

This is supposed to be for children or teens, but I would say it’s best suited for elementary and middle school. Ideally, children would read the stories and then want to read for themselves the stories directly in a traditional Bible.

I like the seven themes. This lends itself well to themed studies.

I can see The Action Bible being used as part of a homeschool curriculum. It would be great to encourage independent readers who can read the stories and enjoy the graphics. They can use the digital resources to go along with each story, as well as incorporating scripture memory.
