I’m excited to now be reviewing Bibles for Thomas Nelson. They have such a great selection of Bibles, each offering its own unique approach to the Bible. I’m starting off with the Women of Faith Devotional Bible, a great Bible for women.
The Women of Faith Devotional Bible is designed to be “a message of grace and hope for every day.” It’s edited by Mary Graham, president of Women of Faith with the assistance of associate editor Christie Barnes, executive director of Women of Faith. It includes contributions from twenty-nine authors, speakers, and women’s ministry leaders. Some of the contributors are Patsy Clairmont, Cynthia Heald, Barbara Johnson, Karen Kingsbury, Babbie Mason, Luci Swindoll, and Sheila Walsh.

Women of Faith Devotional Bible Features
First off, this is a beautiful Bible. The cover is a beautiful plum Leathersoft binding with an embossed vine design. It also comes in a hardcover version. The pages are silver lined and a nice thickness. The NKJV text is crisp and easy to read in a black ink with accent text in a soft pink. Scattered throughout are Scripture verses that tie in with the themes as well as quotes from the contributors.
Like many other women’s devotional Bibles, the devotions are organized by themes. The biblical themes are grace, liberty, hope, joy, faith, love, encouragement, truth, purpose, peace, healing, and sovereignty. Each theme has a blend of full-length devotions as well as mini devotions. There are 365 devotions, one for each day of the year.
Other features of this Bible includes introductions to each of the books of the Bible as well as a a concordance, a help to guide you on your walk with the Lord, and where to find things in Scripture.
Bible Review
The thing about devotional Bibles like this and many others, is the complication of finding and following the devotions. The themed devotions are spread out throughout the Bible in no particular order. In order to read each one, you need to choose your chosen theme then search for each day’s devotion. Though the rest of the Bible is in a clear text, the list of devotions is small and harder to read.
I have a full library of Bibles. I’ve reviewed dozens of Bibles. Each one has something to offer. Many of them sound good in theory, but are more gimmicky. Some are great, but very specialized. Some are good for study at home. Others are perfect for taking to church.
Women of Faith Devotional Bible may be my new favorite Bible.
It’s a great all purpose Bible. It’s pretty and easy to carry. The text is large enough to read both at home and in low light. Though it has occasional footnotes, the focus is on the Scripture rather than notes. It’s in NKJV, my favorite version.
The devotions, though hard to find, are interesting and spiritually-focused rather than fluff.
