The Life in Christ Bible is a beautiful Bible designed with the purpose to help readers find our identity in Christ.
I’m excited to share about the new Life in Christ Bible from Thomas Nelson. Though it shares common features of many of the Bibles I’ve reviewed, it does have some unique features I think you’ll like.
Bible Features
The Life in Christ Bible is another beautiful Bible. It comes in hardback, black, cream, or brown Leathersoft, or brown bonded leather. I got the brown Leathersoft cover. It includes gold edged pages, red lettering for Christ’s words, and it’s Comfort Print, which means it’s easy to read. It has a classic look and feel, like a Bible you’ve owned forever but with new features.
Each book opens with an introduction that includes dates, author, occasion, key passages, and how to find our identity in Christ in that book.
In the notes section in the sidebars of the pages are cross-reference verses related to 40 themes tied in the identity in Christ.
Scattered throughout are articles and encouraging quotes as well as charts and tables.
Perhaps my favorite feature is the book tabs. I know older Bibles used to always have them, but most of the newer ones don’t. Though I certainly know my way around the Bible, it’s nice to have the tabs to find books more quickly.
Bible Review
The size and style of this Bible make it perfect for nightstand reading or for carrying to church. It’s durable and lightweight enough for easy transport.
I like that it’s not so overwhelming with extra features that you lose sight of the actual Scripture. It’s easy to read if you’re not interested in the extra features.
One thing that struck me as odd about this Bible is there’s no editor listed. Though it’s published by Thomas Nelson, I couldn’t find any attribution to the individuals who put it together. Even the articles are anonymous, though I did find one note in the section explaining about the Bible that mentioned two contributors. I’m assuming they must have written the articles, but it’s not clear. That bothered me a little as I like to know who worked behind the scenes so I know where they’re coming from.
Though many Bibles have charts and tables, this one has some of the most interesting and useful. I particularly liked the list of jobs and occupations in the Bible. There are also lists of kings, names of God, notable women and children, prophets and political rulers. I love lists, so I know I’ll enjoy going through each of those.
The Life in Christ Bible is a great overall Bible for both new believers as well as seasoned saints. It’s one that will endure and be used over and over again.
