Personal Size Giant Print Bible

I love reviewing Bibles for Thomas Nelson Bibles. I get to see all the newest Bible releases and check out Bibles I might not otherwise have even noticed. The NKJV Personal Size Giant Print Bible is definitely one of those I would have never given a thought to had I not been reviewing. And yet, it is now my new take to church Bible.

It seems every other day someone is releasing a new Bible. And so many of them have a gimmick. It’s almost like they don’t believe the Bible can stand on its own, but instead need a hook in order to get people to buy it and read it.

We’ve come to expect Bibles to be more than just Scripture. So when a Bible comes out that’s not a study Bible or a devotional, or filled with quotes from famous people, or presented in a unique manner, we don’t know what to do with it.

But the Word of God is complete on its own. We don’t need all the thrills and frills in order to appreciate a Bible. In fact, if we’re not careful, we’ll get caught up in the extras and forget about the actual Scripture.

Personal Size Giant Print Bible Review

The new Personal Size Giant Print Bible doesn’t seem very exciting at first glance. I’m not sure why I selected to review it, but I wasn’t very excited about it when I first got it in the mail.

Then I pulled it out of the cardboard sleeve, and my first thought was, “Wow! This is pretty.” I chose the purple Leathersoft edition, and it’s a very subtle purple. In fact, in low light, it looks almost brown. It’s elegant rather than being flashy. It also has a pretty embossed floral design on the front, which really adds to it’s attractiveness.

Once I opened it, I got excited by the size of the print. There was a time when I had tiny print Bibles, and was fine with it. But now that my eyes aren’t what they used to be, I appreciate a larger print. I especially like Comfort Print because it’s so easy to read.

Most of the time, when you get a giant print, or even large print Bible, you end up with a big, bulky Bible. But this is giant print in a smaller size Bible, which is nice. I have plenty of giant Bibles, but it’s nice to have one you can carry around that doesn’t weigh so much or take up so much room.

The Bible is set up with two wide columns, paragraph style, with no notes or references to squeeze the Bible text. Any notes are at the bottom of the page, and most of the time it’s just a line or two of notes.

Obviously, this is not a study Bible. If you’re wanting commentary and all that, you’ll want something else. But even if you have lots of study Bibles, sometimes, you just want something simpler to be able to read without distractions. In that case, the Personal Size Giant Print Bible is exactly what you need.

I received this Bible in the mail the day before my home Bible study, so I pulled it out to use to read to the ladies. They immediately noticed how pretty it was. Then, when I showed the inside, they were all asking what Bible it was, because they wanted one. I have a feeling, as I carry it to church with me, others will be wanting it as well.

If you’re looking for a new Bible to carry to church or Bible study or wherever else you might need a Bible, or one for your nightstand, may I recommend the Personal Size Giant Print Bible.
