The Garden Children’s Bible: Book Review

I’m always on the lookout for Bibles that will help make Bible study easier for readers of all ages, so I was excited when Bible Gateway offered me the opportunity to review The Garden Children’s Bible.

The Garden Children’s Bible is based on The Garden, a Christ-centered children’s cartoon series by animator Butch Hartman. The Garden features Lenny the Lion and Lucy the Lamb, and the Bible includes 300 Character Callouts with Lenny and Lucy and colorful comic strip pages based on the series.

Don’t be misled, though. This Bible is much more than just cute pictures. It’s a full text in the International Children’s Bible translation which is written on a third grade level but comes from the original Hebrew and Greek languages. The Bible also includes study helps to make reading the Bible easier to understand. These include intros to each book, providing the author, dates, purpose, and an outline of what is covered in the book. In addition, it has a topical index, dictionary, learning lists, prayers, and maps.

I don’t recall ever seeing a child’s Bible this thorough. It’s the perfect blend of helpful information and entertaining story features.

If you’re looking for a Bible for your child, I would highly recommend The Garden Children’s Bible.
