The Explorer Bible Dictionary For Kids: Book Review

As a child I had several picture dictionaries and children’s encyclopedias. I loved them, referring to them often. I never had a Bible dictionary, however.

I’m not sure there was such a thing at the time of a children’s Bible dictionary. If there had been, I would have wanted one. I would have also liked to have had one when my daughter was young and I taught children’s church.

At least now my granddaughter will have access to one. The Explorer Bible Dictionary For Kids is a great resource that will help pave the way for deeper Bible study later on.

The Explorer Bible Dictionary For Kids is a big, colorful hardback appropriate for elementary students. Like any dictionary, it’s set up by alphabetical topics, but the design is more like a magazine.

Each topic is on a different bold color background with white text. The entries include pronunciation, definition or description, and scripture reference.

Topics include Bible characters, Bible books, and biblical terms.

Character entries include scripture reference, where and when they lived, the meaning of their name, their occupation, relatives, contemporaries, and accomplishments.

The Explorer Bible Dictionary For Kids accompanies The Explorer Bible For Kids, and Scripture Memory Cards.

The Explorer Bible Dictionary For Kids Review

This is a great resource! It’s an engaging design that draws children to it. It’s written in an easy to understand manner, but it’s not watered down information. It’s perfect for children to understand interesting Bible personalities and theological topics.

I look forward to sharing it with my granddaughter and studying the Bible together as she gets a little older. I can see how this would be especially useful to homeschool families or families with multiple children.

For Sunday School or Bible teachers, this would be a great resource to use as a supplement to the regular curriculum or to even base a curriculum on the content.
