We recently discovered Tubi, a free streaming platform. Our distributor has been talking about how it’s the hottest platform, so we checked it out. So glad we did, as it’s full of all kinds of movies and shows, and it’s completely free. You don’t even have to register or sign up. Just find the app on your tv and pick your movie.

We watched Thy Neighbor, which just released this week, and wow! It’s a Christian suspense thriller that’s won like every award there is to win in both secular and Christian film festivals, and now we know why. It is truly unlike anything you’ve seen before.

Thy Neighbor is the story of a young Christian author who gets a job as pastor in a small-town Midwestern church. It appears to be the perfect life until he meets the creepy next door neighbor and begins to fear for his family’s life.

What I love about this movie is the authenticity. These are all flawed characters. The pastor and his wife are good hearted people with great intentions, but they are far from perfect. And the neighbor, well, the neighbor will give you nightmares.

The casting was perfect. Nathan Clarkson reminds me of many young pastors I know. Jessica Koloian is sweet and innocent as a young pastor’s wife should be. And Dave Payton as the neighbor is nothing short of brilliant.

Writer/Director George A. Johnson has written a story that speaks to audiences wherever they’re at. It’s about a preacher, yet it’s not preachy. It’s a storyline that anyone can relate to. It’s a message we all need to remember. It will keep you glued to your seat and will keep you thinking long after the movie ends.

Kudos to director George A. Johnson, cast and crew. Job well done!

  1. Great review!  Thanks Sharon!!

    1. Lanny, if you’ve not seen it yet, you need to check it out.

  2. Thanks, Sharon. I am out of the habit of watching television & mostly watch YouTube… but did find TUBI. I will have to watch Thy Neighbor soon. In the meantime, the kids are watching a new-to-them cartoon. It’s doubtful I would have checked out the channel.

    1. Cindy, I know. If our distributor hadn’t raved about it so much, I would have had no idea. But it really is a great platform. So many choices. And the best thing is it’s free to watch, yet filmmakers still get paid. It’s a win-win for everyone.

  3. Wow Wow Wow Loved it! Got it on my Facebook page for friends! Thanks Sharon! Really enjoy your posts!

    1. Sue, I know! I kept hearing all these people rave about it, and it certainly lived up to the hype. Glad you enjoyed it.
